VPN 628 error code  

Error 628 often points to VPN tunnel or PPP negotiation failures—reboot, recheck credentials, try another protocol, or reinstall the dialer profile. See the Chinese article for carrier-specific notes.

How to choose protocol (with compatibility password)  

Different protocols trade off speed, stealth, and compatibility. Use the table on the Chinese page to pick one for your network; “compat password” behaviour is explained there.

Why not more servers? Is the speed guaranteed?  

We focus on connection quality over quantity. Some providers list hundreds of servers, but only a few work. It wastes your time and increases the chance of blocking. Windows 10 Manual Setup  

This article covers manual routing or adapter steps specific to Windows 10. Follow the numbered steps on the Chinese page; prefer the official app when possible.

PPTP drops? Try disabling encryption  

On very old PPTP setups, encryption mismatches can cause random disconnects. The Chinese article describes how to adjust encryption or migrate to a modern protocol.

How to request remote technical support  

When email or chat is not enough, we may use secure remote assistance. Please follow the Chinese instructions to prepare your device and privacy settings before a session.

Auto configuration walkthrough (Mac, iPhone, iPad)  

Automatic configuration imports server settings into the app or system profile so you do not enter nodes manually. The Chinese tutorial covers Mac as well as iPhone/iPad flows with screenshots.

Do I still need mobile data or Wi-Fi when using a VPN?  

Yes. A VPN does not replace your phone's internet connection. It works as an encrypted tunnel built on top of your existing network connection.

That means:

  • If you are using mobile data, the VPN works through your mobile data connection.
  • If you are using Wi-Fi, the VPN works through Wi-Fi.
  • If your phone has no internet access at all, the VPN cannot connect either.

A VPN encrypts and routes your traffic. It does not replace your carrier connection, and it cannot give you internet access when the device itself is offline.

If you are a new user, we recommend using the latest 5UF VPN app for a simpler and more stable experience.

Windows 7: telnet command not found (what to do)  

Some Windows 7 editions omit the Telnet client. Enable it under “Turn Windows features on or off”, or use alternative tests shown in the Chinese guide (e.g. PowerShell or third-party tools).

Applies to all products and services provided by 5UF VPN, including users who subscribe via App Store, Google Play, Alipay, WeChat Pay, or credit card.


1. Our Commitment: Privacy First, Minimal Data Collection


5UF VPN is committed to providing a no-log, no-tracking, and interference-free internet experience.


We adhere to the common industry practices of VPN services:

  • No logging of browsing history, DNS queries, connection contents, or communication data

  • No behavior profiling or data analysis

  • No sale, sharing, or misuse of user data


2. What We Collect (Minimal Required Data)


We only collect two essential pieces of information at registration:

  • Username (for account identification)

  • Email address (for service notifications and password recovery)


We do not actively collect or store any personally identifiable information such as real name, physical address, or phone number.


3. What We Record During Usage


We do not record:

  • Websites you visit

  • DNS queries

  • Content of traffic or packet data


We only record aggregate bandwidth usage per account to help manage system resources.


Regarding IP Addresses:

  • Older protocols (e.g., PPTP, IKEv2, and outdated configurations) may temporarily log your IP for abuse prevention. These logs are retained for no more than 30 days and then permanently deleted.

  • For newer protocols (e.g., Trojan, Hysteria), used in Android App 3.0+ and iOS App 7.0+, we do not log IP addresses at all, and it is technically impossible to reconstruct the connection.


4. Device & Bandwidth Usage Policy

  • All plans support unlimited speed and cross-platform usage (mobile, tablet, desktop)

  • Daily data limit is 10GB, automatically reset every day

  • We limit simultaneous online devices, not total device count

  • Each additional simultaneous device increases the monthly price by 10%


5. Payment Methods & Processing


Third-Party Payments (Stripe, PayPal, Paddle)

  • All credit card transactions are processed via PCI-DSS compliant platforms

  • We do not access, log, or store any payment information such as credit card number, CVV, or billing address


Alipay & WeChat Pay

  • Integrated via third-party payment aggregators (e.g., Ping++ and similar)

  • We only receive confirmation of success/failure; we do not know your Alipay or WeChat account

  • Aggregators may retain limited transaction records, but 5UF VPN does not store or access them


Apple App Store / Google Play

  • All purchases, subscriptions, and refunds are managed by Apple/Google directly

  • We only receive metadata about subscription status or duration

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period

  • Renewal charges are processed within 24 hours before the next billing cycle begins


6. Auto-Renewal Policy (App Store Subscriptions)


Applies to 5UF “Premium Membership” purchased via App Store:

  • Monthly billing cycle (approx. 30 days, not calendar month)

  • Can be cancelled at any time in iOS Settings

  • After cancellation, service continues until end of current cycle

  • If cancelled during the trial period, membership ends immediately

  • Renewal charges are deducted from your iTunes balance

  • Subscription benefits sync across all your devices


7. Refund Policy


App Store / Google Play Subscriptions

  • For refunds, contact Apple or Google support directly

  • We cannot initiate refunds for in-app purchases

  • Once a refund is approved, the associated VPN account will be immediately disabled


Credit Card / Aggregator Payments

  • Credit card payments are eligible for a 7-day no-questions-asked refund

  • Refunds beyond 7 days require customer service review and approval

  • If a chargeback or payment dispute is filed with your bank, the account will be permanently banned


8. Legal Cooperation Policy


We comply with the law, but only within strict limits:

  • We only cooperate with formal court-issued orders, not administrative or police requests

  • We will not cooperate with authorities from: China, Iran, Russia, North Korea

  • Even when cooperating, the only data we can provide is email, username, and registration time


9. Compliance with Singapore PDPA


As a company registered in Singapore, we fully comply with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA):

  • We collect only the minimal data necessary for service delivery

  • Users may request access, correction, or deletion of their data

  • All data is stored in data centers that comply with PDPA standards


10. Compliance with EU GDPR


We are fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • All user data is encrypted in storage

  • We do not use automated profiling or AI-based decision-making

  • Users can request account/data deletion at any time

  • We do not sell, transfer, or share user data with any third party

  • We use industry-standard encryption protocols such as AES-256 and TLS 1.3

  • We do not encourage or condone any illegal usage of the service

Plan billing, renewal, upgrades, and traffic reset  

This article combines several older billing FAQs so you can quickly understand renewal, upgrades, traffic reset, and what “unlimited” really means.

1. How does billing work?

5UF VPN plans are billed by plan period. After purchase, your current billing cycle starts immediately. If you renew, your service time is extended.

2. Why did renewal not restore my service immediately?

If you only renew, the system usually extends your membership time but does not reset the traffic or quota already used in the current billing cycle.

3. What is the difference between renewal and upgrade?

  • Renewal: extends the current plan period and does not reset the current quota.
  • Upgrade: takes effect immediately, recalculates the billing cycle, and resets the current traffic or quota.

4. Will I lose the value of my current plan when upgrading?

No. The system converts the remaining value of your current plan according to the upgrade rules.

5. Why can an “unlimited” plan still have restrictions?

“Unlimited” means normal personal use is not quickly blocked by total usage, but the platform still applies a fair usage policy to prevent account sharing, resale, or long-term abnormal bandwidth usage from affecting other users.

6. What if I hit a limit by mistake?

If you are a normal personal user and a short burst of traffic triggers a restriction, contact support for review.

For the most stable long-term use, we still recommend the latest 5UF VPN app and suggest avoiding old clients or old protocols whenever possible.

Why can’t I connect to 5UF VPN on my phone (e.g. iPhone)?  

Connection failures on iPhone or other phones are usually caused by network restrictions, wrong protocol settings, outdated software, or temporary server issues. Follow the troubleshooting section on the Chinese page step by step, or contact support with screenshots.

Slow network speed  

Slow VPN speed may come from Wi-Fi congestion, ISP shaping, far-away nodes, or local software conflicts. Use the optimisation checklist on the Chinese page.

Why pay for 5UF VPN when there are free proxies?
